A message to the WVU Medicine-WVU Hospitals family

Can you believe that it has been about one year since most of you completed the first WVU Medicine system-wide Employee Engagement Survey?

First, I’d like to thank all who participated and remind you, once again, how crucial your feedback is for moving the organization forward and for creating the type of work environment that makes WVU Medicine an “employee destination.”

For those new to the organization, an engagement survey gives employees the opportunity to share opinions about working here – what’s working well and opportunities for change.

While 2018 Employee Engagement Survey participation was at 78 percent, we wanted more feedback. So we traveled to each WVU Medicine hospital to conduct focus groups to gain additional insight. Hundreds of employees participated in the discussions.

We have been busy over the past 12 months making changes, based on your input, to drive positive change within the organization. We’ve been focusing our efforts on:

  • Communication
  • Resources and staffing
  • Reward and recognition

Why? These are the areas you felt needed some attention.

We hope you’re already noticing improvements – and we’re just getting started. We are working hard, every day, to meet and exceed your expectations as an employer.

Recently, WVU Medicine was recognized as the “most loved” company in West Virginia. We hope you feel that way, too. Here at WVU Medicine, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality patient care, and that starts with taking care of you, our most valuable resource.

Please continue to share your ideas. Your feedback makes us a better employer and a better healthcare provider.

And for our new team members at Braxton County Memorial Hospital and Summersville Regional Medical Center, welcome! We look forward to your participation in our next survey, which is slated for 2020.
