Stroke Center represents WVU Medicine at WV Black Bears game; photo gallery available

Jimmy Boehler, a stroke survivor and Stroke Support Group mentor led a contingent of representatives from the WVU Stroke Center at the West Virginia Black Bears Aug. 7 game against the Batavia Muckdogs at Monongalia County Ballpark.
Boehler, who threw out the first pitch, was accompanied by a group of stroke survivors, along with WVU Medicine providers Mud Alvi, MD, and Martha Power, a nurse practitioner.

The game featured "Mascot Night," and there were appearances by the Pittsburgh Pirate Parrot and Pierogis.
Representatives from the Stroke Center had a display in the concourse of the stadium. They greeted fans and spoke with them about services before and during the game.
